    Louise Hay - Author

Louise Hay is a writer of what many people term as self-help books.  I prefer to call them "becoming conscious" books.  I have started a new List.  It will include books I have read for enjoyment and those that have helped me along in my journey.  Her's is the first book I've added.

I want to share with you a page from her book.

    ***********

    Some Points of My Philosophy

You are each responsible for all of your experiences.

Every thought we think is creating our future.

The point of power is always in the present moment.

Everyone suffers from self-hatred and guilt.

The bottom line for everyone is, "I'm not good enough."

It's only a thought, and a thought can be changed.

Resentment, criticism, and guilt are the most damaging patterns.

Releasing resentment will dissolve even cancer.

When we really love ourselves, everything in our life works.

We must release the past and forgive everyone.

We must be willing to begin to learn to love ourselves.

Self-approval and self-acceptance in the now are the keys to positive changes.

We create every so-called "illness" in our body.

    ********************

Her book goes on to explain all of those statements.

Now, I know a lot of people will have trouble with some of those, especially the last one.  I did, and still do.  But, in reading the book many times, I have come to believe it.

With major illnesses, such as cancer and the dystrophies, etc. I don't have the words to explain her last statement.  It would take someone much farther along in their journey than I am.

But, I will explain with a more minor example.  A member of my extended family (I'll call her Jane) was diagnosed with scoliosis when she was 12 or so.  She wore the brace for a year or two but has continued to have back problems all her life.  She is now 24.  All of her life, also, she has taken care of her mother and two younger siblings.  Her mother had Jane when she was very young and has never acted as a mother.  When Jane was barely older than a toddler herself, she was changing diapers, feeding and cleaning up after her siblings.  She has always been their mother, even to her own mother.  She took on a very heavy role and has the weight of her whole family on her shoulders.  Is it any wonder she had and has back problems?  She came to realize that herself and said it to me the last time she visited.  She has just begun her journey.

Now, I don't expect everyone to believe this, or to make instant "converts".  It has taken me over 10 years to get to this point.  Also, my healer has said that it's easier to prevent an illness than cure one, such as cancer and of course that is true.  So, if we change our way of thinking about ourselves now, we may prevent future minor and serious illnesses.  Thus, the book is invaluable to me.

As always, take what works for you and leave the rest!!

    Love, Light, and Laughter,
    stuff

A a friend told me about Louise Hay, but pity that her books aren't available in my city. Googled Louise Hay and found your site. So stop to say hi. Nice site and nice passages, thank you.  I'm trying to re-programme, and trying to build self-affirmation. I put stickers with "You are happy" everywhere in my appartment. Next step is "I Love You". Hopefully it will work.

I think a good example of this is that we often become sick when we are mentally stressed, or an illness we already have becomes worse.  I have held the belief (and have been suspected of insanity by many) for many years that all illness comes from the conscious or subconscious mind.

I have nit read any of her books, but I'll see if I can get them from my library because they do sound worth investigating.  Some of your commenters mention others that I also will investigate.

There is always so much wisdom here, and so many opportunities to expand, learn, grow.  I really appreciate your blog!

And thanks for the information on the rollups... it's been a long time since I used those, so I wasn't aware of the improvement. I didn't like them for that very reason -- the folds.

    Good morning, my friend...

Today is an extraordinary day for the opportunity shared by all of us to change the fabric of our reality. I have embraced your message regarding the event taking place today and have left messages of empowerment and good intent to as many as I can reach.

May the leaders of the world embrace compassion and peace in their dealings not only with other nations, but with their own people as well. May all sentient creatures on planet earth embrace one another in friendship and respect, that none may suffer and all may enjoy healthy, secure, prosperous lives. May wars cease and civil and respectful dialog prevail to a beneficial conclusion for all concerned. May we all forsake fear in its many forms. May we celebrate human diversity in ways respectful of all. May we embrace the other life forms which share this planet with us that they may not suffer in any way and that they may thrive within the laws of nature.
My wishes for you are that you may grow in spirit , may you be free of pain and may you experience healing of all dysfunctions in your life, physical and otherwise. May your journey to become a healer be successful and beneficial to you and to others. May you have peace of mind, all you need to sustain and nurture your life, and all the love you wish to sustain your soul.
May the changes wrought by this extraordinatry day include these wishes for you and for others.
    Peace and love, always...

Oh, so much good stuff here lately. Fuel and kindling for a lot of contemplation. I confess that a lot of what I just read may be beyond me -- quite often when I get a sense of the nuances of others' spirituality, my own seems childhood to me in comparison -- it's sometimes a shock, but I'm beyond the point where I panic about it, and am instead willing to learn, in good time.

Great job and thanks for providing such meaningful content, Starstuff.

    Hi, Starrystuff...
I had to come back and re-read this.
A couple points are starting to make sense to me...
did I not see them before???
I feel as if I am reading them for the first time.
    Oh, no...not another learning experience..!
    Thank you for that.
    Peace and love, always...

    Hi Star!

Personally, as you might suspect, I have absolutely NO problem with ANY of the items on this list. She is merely stating, or re-stating the same things that other sages and masters have said for a very long, long time.

What makes these items hard for some to accept is the fact that in order to fully and completely accept them all, point for point, you don't get to be a victim anymore. You have to take FULL responsibility for who and what you are.

For many, that is difficult. For some, it is impossible.

Great post Starry One! Please continue...

hmmmm...some of these I'd have to read her explainations and detail on before I can agree with.  But the overall theme sure seems true instinctively...thanks for sharing these!  i'm delighted I came across your Space!

This feels like  tough one, Starrystuff...
The author is essentially saying we must accept responsibility and act accordingly; we must take back control of our existence and surrender as little control over it to others as possible. I'm willing to do my best.
It's hard, though: I surrender control to my doctor when he prescribes a medication which, as long as I take it, will presumably keep me alive. Hence, I've given control over to a pharmaceutical company with its own desires and motivations. I surrender control to anyone I perceive as essential for my happy life, friends, family, other writers and artists... And on and on...
I know we are infinite spirits inside a finite body; and fear of mortality causes us to surrender control to anyone we think can extend the life and comfort of that finite vessel--most of the human experience only reinforces corresponding behaviors. The more spirituality and the spiritual existence may enter into the human dialog,  perhaps it will make it easier to live our lives more fully and focus more on the lessons at hand.
Thank you for nudging me along.
    Peace and love, always...

Oh I do believe it..I once attended a Terry Kellog workshop and learned a whole lot about myself and realized that I am totally responsible for my thoughts, feelings and actions.  Only me....  I have been very frotunate and rarely have I been sick...
